Gynecomastia, Causes and Treatment

Gynecomastia is a type of pathology which is enlarged male breast tissue and usually occurs in stages of human life in which he goes through hormonal changes, may be the childhood, adolescence or old age.

Usually, this type of benign condition is caused by different hormonal changes, which may include estrogen increase or decrease in androgens (testosterone).

In some cases, gynecomastia may be associated with other diseases, which should be ruled out before making a diagnosis. The other pathologies may be tumors, drug use, congenital syndromes, thyroid disease, liver disease, lung and testicular cancer. Since in some cases, gynecomastia is present only as a symptom. (more…)
