Anorexia increasingly younger ages

Unfortunately, the anorexia increasingly appear in younger girls. The main victims of this evil are adolescents between 12 and 18, although cases are dealt with girls 9 and 10 years belonging to middle class families.

Recent studies reveal that a quarter of adolescents 13 years and has done or tried to do some kind of diet. The family plays a key role in detecting disease first and then to combat it, although it is best to prevent it. To do this you must create a climate of communication between members of the family to prepare the adolescent to the changes your body will experience and thus enable this to express their fears and doubts. Any person suffering from anorexia needs treatment. Treatment aims to help restore a healthy weight and eating habits. It usually includes a medical monitoring and consultations with a psychologist and a dietitian.

Medically treat the consequences of malnutrition, such as osteoporosis, heart problems or depression is the first priority. Hospitalization is necessary for people, well below their healthy weight, including anorexia caused severe medical problems such as dehydration, electrolyte imbalance (calcium, magnesium, potassium, etc.).

Consultations with a psychologist to help to learn healthy ways of thinking about food and body to help overcome some of the consequences of malnutrition (such as the tendency of depression, trouble thinking clearly and to overcome anxiety, work difficulty in daily life, etc..), to help develop its own plan to deal with stress and prevent relapse, etc. ..
