Blood in milk

One of the most terrifying experiences during lactation blood is found in breast milk. However, mothers need not panic at the sight of blood as this is a very common phenomenon in a woman who is breastfeeding her first baby.
Blood tends to appear in breast milk during various medical conditions affecting mothers.

The most common among them is to have a cut or abrasion on the nipple or the surrounding region. Wounds on the nipple is caused mainly due to biting teeth. The blood tends to ooze out of that hurt the baby once pressure is applied through suction. Stop the bleeding once the injury is completely healed. If you notice any mothers such wounds, which should always be careful to clean the area before feeding. Infections tend to spread easily through wounds.
Another important cause for blood in breast milk is vascular engorgement or rusty tube syndrome. Syndrome patients have a rusty pipe increased blood supply to the breasts a few days before the day of hope. (more…)

Breast-milk excretion before birth

Breast milk is produced from a unique type of glands located in the body of a woman named as mammary glands. These glands are a rich capillary network connection connective and fatty tissues in the interior of the breast. Milk is produced in small groups of fat cells or pouch-like glands called alveoli.

Gestational Diabetes

Definition:Any that alteration in the metabolism of carbohydrates that are first detected during pregnancy.
• Inadequate adaptation to insulin resistance that occurs in pregnancy.
• Includes a small group of pregnant women with diabetes mellitus type I or II not previously diagnosed.

• Represents about 90% of pregnant women with diabetes and high risk obstetric conditions if not diagnosed or not treated properly
Physiology
First Quarter:
• There is hyperplasia of cls. pancreatic beta and increased sensitivity of these to glucose, the effect of estrogen and progesterone
• Increased sensitivity to insulin action at peripheral level
Consequence: Decreased fasting and postprandial glycemia away

Pathophysiologic

• High resistance to insulin of the same magnitude in normal pregnant women and diabetes, but is three times greater than that observed outside pregnancy.
• Predominantly located in the muscle tissue and is mediated by the cellular effects produced by placental hormones, especially placental lactogen and free cortisol.

Immunization in the Pregnant

Strategies:
Ensuring delivery of tetanus toxoid to 100% of pregnant women in control.

Objective:

Preventing maternal and neonatal tetanus.

Activities:
Using the rules and procedures of the immunization program: vaccinating susceptible group, dose, route, equipment, registration, conservation of biological, etc..
To assess immune background and history of vaccination of pregnant women to control at the first contact.
Apply appropriate dose of tetanus toxoid in the first contact with the mother.

General provision:
The health team is responsible for the implementation of tetanus toxoid to pregnant women. As nurses and medical assistants simplified who maintain, prepare, manage and record the vaccine.
Tetanus toxoid should be applied to all pregnant women, WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
The nurse must perform interrogation to assess vaccination histories of pregnant women and corresponding dose.
The nurse should apply the appropriate doses of tetanus toxoid in the first contact with the pregnant woman. (more…)
