We all know the beneficial effects it brings to our bodies and drinking water. Experts recommend at least two liters a day. Brenda Davy, a researcher at the Department of Human Nutrition, Nutrition and Exercise at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg (Virginia) announced the results of a specialist who graduated as a very important finding, since she and her team managed show that drinking two glasses of water before meals to lose weight makes it easier for the elderly and middle aged.

This same research group has already observed in other studies that people who drank water before a meal ate about 90 fewer calories.

In this latest study has found that in 12 weeks, people who were doing a slimming diet and drank well water before each meal and made them three times a day, lost about two kilos and a half longer than those who did not increase for all your fluid intake.

The study was conducted with the help of 48 adults with ages ranging between 55 and 75, were divided into two groups. All followed a low calorie diet for three months and one group drank two glasses of water before meals, while the other did not. After the period of the trial, those who drank water lost about 7 kilos and who did not lost about only about 5 kilos.

Dr. Davy concluded that “everyday experience has suggested that water can help promote weight loss. But until now there was no scientific data on the subject. Previous studies have suggested that water before a meal reduces caloric intake. However, lacking the ‘gold standard’ of scientific evidence: a randomized, controlled trial comparing weight loss among dieters and drink before meals and those who do not”.

“Water can be as effective simply because it fills the stomach with a substance that has no calories and, moreover, the person takes in fewer calories. Surely, increase your intake can also help people lose weight if it is the replacement for sweetened beverages”, said Dr. Davy

With regard to drink water to replace the light and obtained the same results as with water, the researcher acknowledged that he had discussed that fact in the investigation.

However, other researchers have found that eating this type of drink, no calories, it also reduces caloric intake at meals and they may be able to increase weight loss over time as does the water.
